Handmade New Year

Happy New Year! The arrival of 2013 brings the opportunity to meet new artists, discover an exciting craft, and visit arts related events to support the keystone artisan community.

If you are looking for arts related events throughout January, then look no further, I’ve put together a guide to help you get started:

First Friday at the Banana Factory! This Friday January 4th, featuring Joyce Tenneson’s “A Life in Photography” exhibition in the Banko Gallery, open studios with the Banana Factory Resident Artists, jewelry making demonstration by Kevin Herbst Haaf at 7:30 in the Jewelry Studio #351, and a glassblowing demonstration in the Glassworks Studio!

The Baum School of Art is offering classes in Beginner’s Sewing, Clothing Construction, Patternmaking and Fashion Design Illustration. Classes start the week of January 7th – register today at www.baumschool.org and learn a new craft or take your current skills to the next level!

Don’t miss out! There are many arts related events and programs at the James A. Michener museum throughout January and February in Doylestown, PA.

View a number of exhibitions at The Allentown Art Museum on display from January through April including Fabric of Life: Pennsylvania German Textiles.

Visit the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen’s web site for closer look at events and artists within the Lehigh Valley community.

Exhibit your work! Call for Artists: New Bridge Group Out of the Blue show at the Antonio Salemme Foundation.
